September Workshop: Author-Editor Relationships

Editors Canada Hamilton-Halton is pleased to present yet another career development opportunity. Meet and learn from accomplished author Richard Scrimger at 7pm on Thursday, September 21, 2017.

The Author-Editor Relationship

Join us as we explore the rewarding yet sometimes frustrating minefield of author-editor relationships. The good, the bad, and the ugly — we’ll discuss what makes for a successful relationship; how this dynamic has changed over the last 20 years; and what you can do to ensure positive relationships in your own editing career.

Arrive promptly to network with other editors and enjoy a light snack.

Guest Speaker

RICHARD SCRIMGER is the award-winning author of more than twenty books for children and adults, including The Nose from Jupiter, Zomboy, Viminy Crowe’s Comic Book and The Wolf and Me. When he’s not writing or talking about writing, Richard teaches at Humber College for the School of Writers and gets laughed at by his adult children — there are four of them. Richard has been asked to speak about writing and literacy around the globe: in Europe, Abu Dhabi, the U.S., and across Canada. He judges writing contests like the popular Toronto Star Short Story Contest and the prestigious Governor General Literary Awards.

One of his latest books, Lucky Jonah, published by Harper Collins, has won the following accolades:

  • CBC Best Book of the Year
  • OLA (Ontario Library Association) Best Bets
  • Red Maple Award Finalist
  • Ruth & Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Award
  • Saskatchewan Young Reader’s Choice Award – Snow Willow Award

7 pm

Halton Hive

901 Guelph Line, Burlington, ON L7R 3N8

Please Note:

There’s new construction in front of the Hive: a green wooden barrier interferes with seeing the entrance, which may make it hard for people not familiar with the location to find.
We suggest turning left on Harvester and doing an immediate right into the Rosehill Warehouse, which is attached to the Hive.

Free for Editors Canada members, $5 for non-members.
